I've never really been into Marvel, but said I was happy to watch the new Thor film 'Love and Thunder'. I wasn't really my cup of tea and afterwards Ann said it perhaps wasn't the best one to watch first.
But the music choices in it were nice - I think there were three Guns and Roses songs in the end - one of my teenage loves.
We ate at Pizza express first, which was very nice, I had La Reine "The queen" which was ham, mushrooms and olives.
Didn't look in many shops, as we were planning on going around Leeds the next day.
Went back to her hotel for a tea and talked for a bit then I headed home. A very pleasant evening.
Friday
I spent quite a while getting ready in the morning, I wanted to do my eyeliner wings while at home, so i wasn't stressing on the hotel. I do like them to by symmetrical and it takes me an age sometimes.
It would be the first time the kids would be left on their own for more than half an hour, so I also made sure to make them some lunch. They are both at big school now, so I think it's time we can be a bit more relaxed about leaving them. I ended up checking on them every hour all afternoon until my wife came home from work.
Got into Leeds around 11:30 , and met up with Ann for a coffee in Costa, then we wandered around the shops. Got another (but much cheaper) handbag in T.K.Maxx, then we decided to have a look in the wig shop - this was a mistake. I have another nice wig, but Ann also ended up with one, so we are even.
These were some of the rejects, I tried at least 10 on I think. Ann bought the middle one.

This is the one I ended up with taken at the Thai restaurant later in the day:
We had a tea and shared a scone in John Lewis, then headed back to check into our rooms at the Travelodge.Title is referring to what the critics said about the film, and also my tinnitus which is always worse after a night out.
On the upside, at least it wasn't Dark World (zzzz) 😋 The new do is very you and lovely as well.
ReplyDeleteLeaving the kids at home, yes that rings a bell. Sounds like they were ready, if that makes sense.
Did it have screaming goats ? :)
DeleteThankyou, yes I was very pleased with the look, it's closer to the colour of my real hair - although without the grey coming through.
It was the youngest's first proper day at big school today, time does go quick.
Sounds like you had a fun few days with your friend Ann, cool.
ReplyDeleteI've never been into any of the Marvel films but if you're after a decent film to watch, I recently went to see The Black Phone and rather enjoyed it. It scores 7/10 on IMDB and is quite a decent thriller.
All three wigs are lovely styles but you opted for the right one in the end. Your friend picked a good style wig too, I actually thought that it looked nice on you, nice style and colouring.
Thanks, it might be a few months before get chance to see another but will add it to the shortlist. That had actually been my first trip to the cinema in nearly 20 years.
DeleteYes everyone liked the one that she ended up with on me, but I wasn't feeling it at all. I like the sides of my face more covered up, felt a bit too exposed.
Well, I missed this going live!
ReplyDeleteI think it's great that you got out to the cinema, I know how a long time can pass between viewings. Shame it wasn't a film more to your tastes. Good news on the children gaining real life XP enough to be more independent too!
On wigs, yes: you made the right choice. Personally, I feel the first (on the left) of your rejects suits you almost as well as the one you chose but I can totally see why people liked the blonde one too.
Right, unwanted and unsolicited opinion delivered I shall away in a puff of smoke!
I am always happy to receive your opinion !
DeleteYes got to start somewhere with being left alone.
The curly ones seemed a bit 80's , although I think they would have looked great with some outfits, maybe I wouldn't have wanted to wear them with everything.
